My grandmother is eighty-five years old. Though her mind is as sharp as a tack, she has macular degeneration, which causes severe blindness. This means that if she needs to go somewhere like the bank, grocery store, etc. I need to take her. Today was one of those days.

Last night a friend and I were at KFC to pick up some food for a fatty sleepover dinner. While we were deciding what to get, an old man comes in and slowly walks (the way elderly people do) to the counter and this is what happens...

So after seeing a production of Grease the cast, crew and friends decided to go to IHOP. Admittedly we were somewhat loud, but the IHOP was almost empty until we left.  Keeping in mind that it was almost empty my table (our group filled 3 big tables) never got menus. Brief backstory - small village, mutually accepted politeness generally expected from counter staff, kids, grumpy old ladies, etc. My 14yo daughter goes in to the newsagents / corner shop, which is under new management, to pay her grandma’s newspaper bill. A post someone made here a few days ago reminded me of one of my very few bad service stories.

Note: this happened a bit over a year ago, I think. At the very least, it happened before pharmacists could refuse to fill prescriptions. Also, this gentleman was NOT a pharmacist.
